At Buckhead Primary Care Clinic, testing may be done as part of a routine check-up, annual physical, follow-up visit, or evaluation of new symptoms. This may include blood work, urine testing, swab-based testing, and selected in-office diagnostics, depending on the reason for the visit.

Swab testing may be used in different clinical situations, including throat infections, vaginal symptoms, STD testing, and culture-based testing when a more specific evaluation is needed.

Some tests are completed during the visit, while others are sent to an outside laboratory for further analysis. The type of testing is determined by your symptoms, medical history, and clinical needs.

Preparing for Tests and Exams

Many patients assume that all tests must be done on an empty stomach. In most cases, this is not required.

Most routine tests and exams, including visits for an annual physical, can be done at any time of day without special preparation.

Fasting or additional preparation may be required in some cases, for example

blood glucose testing, where recent meals can affect the result
cholesterol panel, which may require several hours without food
certain blood tests ordered for more detailed evaluation
exams that depend on specific symptoms or clinical concerns
